Socials
House parties are a method of educating supporters, recruiting volunteers, and raising money. By joining with a few friends and sponsoring a house meeting, you are helping a campaign reach out beyond its current network.
Planning a House Social
- Choose a place to hold a meeting. You can serve dessert and coffee, have a potluck dinner, invite people for a Sunday brunch or serve pretzels and soda.
- Develop your guest list. The goal should be somewhere between 15 and 25 attendees. Always invite twice that as many since some people will not attend.
- Send invitations a few weeks before the social.
Tips for the Social
- Encourage your guests to bring other supportive friends.
- Encourage people to commit to whether they will attend.
- Tell your guests that a speaker will be there and will be asking for money, if that is one of your purposes for the social.
- Make a reminder call a day or two before the event.
